On a rainy day, tourist attractions like this were virtually empty but for me and my wonderful host family in China.  We were the only customers in our restaurant and we took up the rest of the restaurant space with our dripping umbrellas.  The food was simply magnificent.  The menus in China were usually hard bound books of substantial length with beautiful colored illustrations of each dish.   I always marveled that a restaurant could either feed one family or one couple…fifty!…from such an extensive choice of dishes…on any given day.  That remains a mystery. I am sure they wished for better weather and more diners.  We could not have been happier in the rain.
