Not long ago I published and presented a card featuring a baby American coot being fed a worm by its mother on the grass.  Here, the babies have moved into the water – but still have the crazy red, yellow and orange pin feathers, bald head and orange beaks which will soon turn into white beaks and black and gray bodies.  No red, yellow or orange in sight.  I love their appearance – and they will no doubt reappear on my website in other forms in the future.
