Autumn at Lily Lake

Lily Lake is in the Southeast corner of Rocky Mountain National Park which is a pride of the State of Colorado and residents of Colorado visit often.  Visitors often come to ski;  some of us  enjoy all the seasons and all the special features of the Park.  Lily Lake is a popular spot because it is a relatively flat walk around the lake allowing all ages to enjoy.  It is also a short drive from the Denver metropolitan area and is easily a day trip at any season.   You can also climb up and hike around the surrounding ridge above the lake.  The yellows of the aspen and the reds of the willows are typical.  Grasses grow tall and wave gently – or not so gently – in the mountain breezes.  This is one of many spots I try to revisit annually.
