This was one of the very first plants to emerge in the spring at the Denver Botanic Gardens – in the back corner of the Japanese Garden area, out from a pile of dead leaves and sticks.  I had asked countless people what this plant was called but no one seemed to know.  Last week, a friend walked into my office where I was preparing which pictures to post this month and she just pointed and said “HELLEBORE!”  Now you know!
