It is hard to get a sense of scale in this picture, but maybe it is better that way.  Just a few yards off of an asphalt ribbon of endless highway in Wyoming after miles and miles of flat prairie the earth gives way to THIS.   Imagine being lost here.  Imagine looking for someone or something  here.  Imagine waking up here.  Imagine growing up here and knowing every nook and cranny like the back of your hand.   Imagine the intensifying colors in a rainstorm.  Imagine trying to get across before it rains – or hoping to come across a cave!  As you can see, the flat prairie continues at the far edge…but you would not see that horizon from the bottom of this moonscape.  Haunting.
