I am fascinated by the grain of the wood in these primitively cut boards used in these early homesteads.  I can recall shopping at Hugh M. Woods for 14′  2×4 lumber – needing it to be perfectly straight, no knots or knotholes, no irregular grains.  Imagine building a house today using slabs of wood like these!  BUT to me they constitute ART.  Enjoy a closer look!
