When I first saw Jane’s Carousel, it was under repair under the Williamsburg (?) Bridge in Brooklyn – where I took this photograph. Subsequently it was moved out onto the waterfront under a fancy glass cake covering to be appreciated by myriad international visitors – and Brooklynites as well. In its first year at its new home, hurricane Sandy rose the waters of the Hudson River up into the carousel – but miraculously spared the mechanics so the riders lucked out and the carousel turns on. I am quite sure this carousel began its career in Youngstown, Ohio…and have even met people who rode it there. Be sure to go for a ride some day…
