The card has been in my collection for a long time – it is a detail of a piece in the Rubin Museum in lower Manhatten which is a marvelous museum to visit.  The picture has had this title for years – though I have numerous friends now who would probably correct me that this was not even a lute!  Apologies!  It just makes such an attractive card I can’t resist sharing the image!
