Trail Ridge Road runs through Rocky Mountain National Park and is the longest continuously paved road through such high mountain country – 43 miles! Completed in 1933, it is tundra surrounded by 12,000 foot peaks. It is only passable through the summer and fall (October) but is a popular journey for tourists as well as Coloradans because of the spectacular terrain – especially during the colorful autumn season. Of course, Colorado often has gorgeous sunsets over the mountains – and over the prairies!
